Back to my SNES for the Holidays

It's become a holiday tradition for me to plug in my SNES and play
various classic games that haven't seen the light of day in a while.
This year, I started off by trying to mimic that SMB3-in-11 minutes
madness, and the best I could do was 25 minutes. Hey, that's not bad!
Then I went through SMW and got to 90 stars. For some reason, I forgot
where to find the Blue Switch palace, and I'm sure that's keeping me
from at least a couple of the missing six stars.
Then I played through SMB2 for the first time ever. I had played it
dozens of times, but I had never bothered to play to the end. I beat
it in under an hour and I hadn't played it in several years and I had
never beaten it... I was impressed!
I tried to resume last year's SMB Lost Levels game, where I had gotten
stuck at the final castle (8-4), and I still can't do it! This year, I
couldn't even get to Bowser! I got there last year. I've decided that
it's almost impossible to do with Luigi because of the high bounce he
takes off that flying Koopa at one point... other than that, the level
just takes too long. The one time I ever did get to Bowser, I ran out
of time.
Then I played a game I had never played before... Zelda: A Link to the
Past. GREAT GAME! I'm not very far into it, but I'm planning on
finishing it before I have to go back to school on the 7th. Wish me
luck!
That's all for now...
WOW! You've inspired me to get mine out again. Emulation is all well and
good, but you really can't beat having the original hardware! I'm going
to give the Lost Levels a go tonight and see how I get on with it. I've
played SMB3 to death ever since it was released and totally ignored it's
predecessors... Shame on me!

If you have never played SMB1, then I highly recommend that before jumping
into the Lost Levels. SMB:LL is *much* harder than SMB1, but the gameplay is
almost exactly the same (the only differences are Luigi's running and
jumping, and those poisonous muchrooms...).

Ah, but my theory is that if I go for the hard one first, I won't feel
as much frustration - if that makes sense! I mean that if I do SMB1
first, then move onto SMB:LL I may get annoyed at the ramp-up of
difficulty and give up, whereas if I go the other way around I will be
happy because things will get easier...

Perhaps I shouldn't think about it so much and should just get on and
play the games! :)

I was playing C&C Generals on the PC last night, so didn't get round to
hooking up the SNES. :(
