Zelda was fantastic on the SNES, as well as Yoshi's Island.

If you liked Zelda, Golden Sun should appeal to you.

Advance Wars is a great game, I was a shy of it at first, as it didn't look
to flash from screenshots, but grab a copy from a hire shop, it's very
addictive.
i'm a conservative games buyer and only really opt for all time classics
if
i can help it. games i'll love every minute of no mater how many times i
play them. so far i've played these games on my GBA and am wondering where
mario advance 2 (mario world)
metroid fusion
zelda: link to the past
wario advance
made in wario (wario wares - only out in Japan so far, great fun though)
all above are great great great
mario kart (not a patch on the snes version)
bust a move (always quite fun)
bomberman (great for multiplayer and not much else)
rayman advance (pretty dull)
mario advance 3 (yoshi - played before on snes, loved it)
advance wars (heard great things about this)
golden sun (tried this out, not really my cup of tea, but may buy myself a
copy anyway)
monkey ball jr (definitely going to get this at some point)
final fantasy (when it comes out)
anyone give me any other recommendations? i'm mostly after nintendo home
grown, but classic games can come from other sources (is it possible?)
cheers

Agreed. I don't typically like strategy games, but this is nice and light,
yet still requires a brain.

I agree with all of the above. Never having played Yoshi's Island
before I was very surprised at how good it was. Same with Advance
Wars. I finally gave it a shot a month ago and it's all I play now.
Which version of Advace Wars? can I just get 2 or do I really need to start
off with 1?

I've been playing AW2 for a week or two now, and it doesn't add that
much to the core gameplay (1 new unit, a couple of terrain features,
and some new commanders you can use). Really what you get from AW2 is
a continuation of the plot from AW1 and some new scenarios -- which
get tough more quickly than they did in AW1.

Considering that AW1 should be available for a reduced price now that
the sequel is out, I recommend playing AW1 first. It has a better
tutorial mode that is a terrific introduction to the game (and I
usually hate tutorial modes).

I concur. That's what I'm playing currently.

I don't think it matters too much. Advance Wars 1 explains the game
better with tutorials. But they can be kind of boring.

Advance Wars 2 has the NeoTank and some other extras. I'd go with 2.
You aren't missing much storywise and AW2 is just a slight upgrade of
AW1. (more weapons, more CO's, etc.)

Well, you miss out on the whole dramatic unveiling of the Evil
Badguy. Not that it was terribly dramatic, I suppose, but it's better
than him just *being there* ranting about getting his revenge on these
other people.
There aren't a lot of differences between the two games, it's true,
but if you have any intention of getting AW1, you should get it first.
Otherwise you'll only be disappointed when you finish AW2 and find stuff
"missing" from AW1.
